Sasha: My experience working at Catoro | Meet the team

Meet Sasha

Sasha is a supervisor and cat host who has been working at Catoro for about two years!

What is your favourite memory of working at Catoro?

Bonding with DJ and Salvador, they dripped honey all over my life. I miss them so much.

What is the most fun part of your job?

Scooping the poo, pretending to be a cat, meeting new kitties, and cracking jokes with coworkers

What is the most stressful thing about your job?

When too many things are happening at once.

How would you describe working at Catoro?

Amazing. Never a dull moment. Always look forward to coming in and scooping the poo!

How is working at Catoro different than you expected?

It’s a lot more hands-on and knowledge expected. You learn so much on the job about cat’s health and habits, but it’s definitely a plus to have some basic knowledge prior.

What is the hardest part about working at Catoro?

Saying goodbye to your favourite cats!!

Tell us about a cat whose story affected you.

salvador

Salvador! He was badly abused, had a broken jaw, lost his hearing and sight, and he was THE friendliest, happiest BEING I’ve ever encountered. We all have a lot to learn from him.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about rescue cats?

People tend to go for easy social and cute cats right away, but its the feral, shy, skittish, abandoned, hurt, special needs ones that bring you the most love and make you feel like you’re doing something good.
It’s not all cute and cuddly. Nothing will test your patience and pain tolerance more than a rescue cat. You have to have thick skin - mentally AND physically.

What is your favourite drink on our menu?

Foggy Cat (a vanilla and earl grey milk tea)

Do you have a pet at home?

I have Pickles and Cheddar who both came from Catoro. They have such different personalities but get along so well. Typical older brother and younger sister scenario. They go crazy for laser pointers and can only eat Tuna Boreal wet food.
