Conan: What it's like working at Catoro | Meet the team

Learn about Catoro from our wonderful staff!

Please enjoy our latest staff interview, where you can meet more of the Catoro team, and find out what it's really like working in a cat cafe.

Meet Conan

Conan is a host and barista and is the latest addition to our team, with about 4 months on the job so far!

What is your favourite memory of working at Catoro?

Seeing Salvador play for the first time!

What is the most fun part of your job?

Besides petting the cats, talking and giving advice to possible adopters!

What is the most stressful thing about your job?

People looking through the windows in the cafe while I clean the Cat Forest!

How would you describe working at Catoro?

Better than any job I’ve ever had. In every way.

How is working at Catoro different than you expected?

When most employers say that the employees are “like family”, it doesn’t turn out to be true. At Catoro, everyone genuinely cares. Working at Catoro, you’re not just a barista or a host, you’re an actual person. It’s wonderful.

What is the hardest part about working at Catoro?

Cat poop 🙄

Tell us about a cat whose story affected you.

Salvador really made an impression on me. It hurt my heart seeing his status go from application pending to being completely available again, and if he had been at Catoro much longer I would have brought him home myself. Luckily, he’s in a great home now, and he’s so loved.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about rescue cats?

They’re not going to immediately be affectionate, especially if they’re coming from a situation where they haven’t been around humans much! You have to go slow, get them used to you, and be patient.

What is your favourite drink on our menu?

Lavender Taro Cloud with pearls!

Do you have a pet at home?

We have 2 cats, one that was a private adoption (Gigi), and one that was adopted from Catoro (Pineapple, formerly known as Samuel).

Gigi is an absolute love bug, and wants all your attention, all the time. He would love to go back to being 18lbs, and doesn’t understand why we won’t let him.
Pineapple is a big weirdo, and he’ll eat anything if he has the chance. He’s not as affectionate, he prefers to sit a couple feet away from you instead of being in your lap.
